By Simon Ebegbulem
BENIN —THE Edo State House of Assembly has dedicated the 25th anniversary of the creation of the state to the memory of the late nationalist, Chief Anthony Enahoro, saying that his historic motion for Nigeria’s independence in 1953 led to the nation’s independence in 1960.
Speaking on the creation of the state in 1991, Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Dr Justin Okonoboh, who was flanked by other principal officers of the Assembly, including the Deputy Speaker, Elizabeth Ativie, said that the occasion was dedicated to the late nationalist due to his immense contributions to the independence of the country and the creation of Edo State.
He said: “You will recall that our state House of Assembly Complex is named after him, Chief Anthony Enahoro Complex, which shows how we revere him and I am particularly proud of him because he hails from my place in Esan. The people of Edo State will continue to celebrate Enahoro because he was a great Nigerian that saw the future before many others
