Napoli—Association of Okwagbe Youths in Europe, AOYE, has called on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to develop Okwagbe community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State by tarring all the bad roads, building an ultra-modern market and appointing indigenes of the community into the state executive council.
The group while playing host to Chief Okiemute Oviri-Okwagbe in Napoli, Italy said that before the 2015 governorship election, he had appealed to them to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, promising that if Okowa wins, Okwagbe community would be massively developed.
National President of the group, Mr Emmanuel
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Sakpakpa, said: “Really as our political leader, we yielded to your plea and gave the PDP over 7,000 votes against the APC and Labour Party that did not poll up to 1000 votes. But up till this moment, we have not seen any development nor appointment of indigene of the community."
“We are tired of your plea for us to wait. We know that the economic situation in the country is bad but despite that, the government has constructed and still constructing roads across communities in the state. PDP didn’t even win election in some of these communities that are benefiting from the state government.
“Whereas Okwagbe community that gave a whooping 7,000 votes has nothing to show for voting for the PDP, all our roads are bad, our market that is the biggest in Delta central has no good structures, making traders to do business under the rain and sun,” Sakpakpa lamented.
Thanking Chief Okwagbe for the visit to the group in Italy, Sakpakpa urged him to appeal to his boss, Governor Okowa to fulfil his promises of massive development of Okwagbe community.
